Defense Tech: Robotic Frisbees of Death

Defense Tech: Robotic Frisbees of Death: “Robotic Frisbees of Death

It ain’t easy, picking out evil-doers in the urban canyons of the Middle East; there are so many places to hide. Taking ’em out can be even harder, what with all those noncombatants hanging nearby. But the Air Force thinks it might have an answer to this most vexing problem in counter-insurgency: frisbees.

disc_uav.JPGNot just any frisbees, mind you. Robotic frisbees. Heavily armed robotic frisbees.

The Air Force recently tapped Triton Systems, out of Chelmsford, Mass, to develop such a ‘Modular Disc-Wing Urban Cruise Munition.’

‘The 3-D maneuverability of the Frisbee-UAV [unammned aerial vehicle] will provide revolutionary tactical access and lethality against hostiles hiding in upper story locations and/or defiladed behind obstacles,’ the company promises.”

My First Ever 3D Model

I have been wanting to get into 3D modelling for years, but When I tried to use 3D Studio Max and Maya, they were a bit advanced me my brain. Not having a decent book to walk me through I thought I’d try Poser. Poser Allows you to create figures and scenes. Although I have used it before I have never really made anything, as it can be quite fiddly.

This Picture was abuilt using the James model and then the post Work was done in Photoshop CS. It’s not brilliant but, i’m quite pleased with it for a first attempt.

The

I even uploaded it to a gallery of other Artists Work at Runtime DNA

I’d like to know what you think.

R.I.P the Crocodile Hunter – Steve Irwin Killed

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This morning I awoke to the Sad news that Steve Irwin has died whilst filming a Documentary. He was stung in the Chest by the bard of a Stingray. I’d like to offer my personal Condolences to Steve’s family. He was a Vrilliant raw talent with energy and enthusiasm for the job he loved doing. I’m sure almost everone will agree with me when I say that he will be sorely missed.

Not only was he a passioate naturalist, but an inspiration to us all.

I first saw his show about 10 years ago now and was amazed by his bravery, but also awed by his steadfast dedication to the animals. I remember thinking “this guy is a nutter”, but secretly wishing I could be a bit more like him.

R.I.P Steve.

Hidden House History

Who lived in your house 100 years ago? Was it even built then? Ancestry.com sent me an interesting email with a link to the Hidden House History website, which allows people to register and tell the history of their house. Who knows perhaps you will find out something cool…or horrific. I have a pile of the old deeds to my house, they date back to the 1880’s when the house was built. Perhpas they will help Staffordshire genealogists?
