A bus firm has blamed high fuel prices and cheap over-60s fares for its decision to cancel a rural service.
Baslow-based Henry Hulley and Sons will withdraw its number four route – which links Bakewell, Monsal Head, Great Longstone and Ashford in the Water – on April 19.
Director Richard Eades said 93 per cent of passengers on the route used concessionary passes, with his firm receiving only a small compensation fee.
And Mr Eades said fuel was still “scandalously high” compared to the price of crude oil.
